About Me

Allergies: The Unbearable Sniffing, Sneezing and Drainage

My name is Marilyn Baker, and I have horrible allergies. I’m 42 years old and have been suffering from allergies since I was a child. I have seasonal and environmental allergies. Allergies plague me year round. When I was young, my parents even moved to a dryer area in the hope of helping me. Over the past eight years, I have done extensive research both through doctors and online. I have managed to come up with some combinations that have helped me a great deal. My allergies aren’t gone, but they have become manageable. I do have to have allergy shots, but I also use some natural remedies. I am happy to be able to share my findings with you here on my blog. I hope you can find some of this of value.

What To Know About Your First Chiropractic Visit

by Clifton Davidson

Many Americans will visit a chiropractic clinic for the first time this year. Many of them will have no idea what to expect when they get there. This is quite normal. Prevailing theories about chiropractic treatment have failed to create an accurate picture of what the treatment involves. These theories have also led to inaccurate expectations, as far as the results of the treatment are concerned.

Chiropractic treatment can be a great source of help for many people who've failed to get the relief they need elsewhere. What should you expect when you visit a chiropractic clinic for the first time?

Intake Process

Before anything else, there is an initial intake process which is quite similar to what you find in a regular hospital. You'll be asked to fill in some paperwork including a questionnaire. The information you initially provide will enable the chiropractor to know more about your medical history and your general health status.

You may also be asked the location on your body that's experiencing some discomfort. Once the intake process has been completed, the next step will be to undergo a physical exam?

The Physical Examination

While the information provided during the intake may be quite accurate and may even have come from your GP, it's still important to undergo a physical exam before any course of treatment is decided.

In a chiropractic clinic, there are various things that will be tested that may not be tested during regular physicals. These include muscle strength comparisons and motion tests. Even if these tests were initially carried out, certain factors may have changed in the time since. The type of physical examination that will be carried out will depend on the location and degree of your discomfort.

Developing a Treatment Plan

A treatment plan can be developed for you on your first day depending on the results of your physical examination and the information you provided during the intake process.

If you hadn't seen a GP before visiting the chiropractic clinic, some professionals will recommend you do this before a treatment plan is settled on. Although chiropractic treatment is usually safe, it's important to ensure certain risk factors don't exist that may make certain treatments unsafe.

The treatment plan will outline the type of treatment you'll be receiving, the duration of the treatment and the goals that should be achieved. Different people will have very different treatment goals, especially for those with chronic conditions. For ore information, contact a local chiropractor.
