Allergies: The Unbearable Sniffing, Sneezing and Drainage

My name is Marilyn Baker, and I have horrible allergies. I’m 42 years old and have been suffering from allergies since I was a child. I have seasonal and environmental allergies. Allergies plague me year round. When I was young, my parents even moved to a dryer area in the hope of helping me. Over the past eight years, I have done extensive research both through doctors and online. I have managed to come up with some combinations that have helped me a great deal. My allergies aren’t gone, but they have become manageable. I do have to have allergy shots, but I also use some natural remedies. I am happy to be able to share my findings with you here on my blog. I hope you can find some of this of value.

How Obesity Can Lead To Osteoporosis

by Clifton Davidson

Obesity is a problem that affects millions of Americans, and it can lead to a variety of different health problems. One problem it can lead to is osteoarthritis, which is a condition that affects the joints in the body. Osteoarthritis can be painful and can prevent you from being able to use all the joints you have, but you may be able to prevent it if you lose some weight.

Problems associated with osteoarthritis

If you develop osteoarthritis, you may begin by experiencing pain in your hips, back, and knees. This pain develops when cartilage in these joints begins wearing away. Little by little this will occur, and if it is left untreated the problems will worsen. The pain will gradually get worse as the cartilage begins wearing away, and in time you may have trouble walking and may even need a hip or knee replacement.

There are a number of things that can cause you to develop osteoarthritis, but the main risk factors are overuse of certain joints, injuries to the joints, age, and obesity.

The correlation between obesity and osteoarthritis

The main way obesity leads to osteoarthritis is from the way extra weight affects the joints in your body. When you are overweight, your bones, muscles, and joints must lug around more weight than they were made to carry. Because of this, your extra weight places a lot of added stress and friction on the joints. Over time, this added stress will begin to damage your joints. If left untreated, the damage will continue to a point where your joints are completely destroyed and unusable.

What you can do

The first thing to realize is that studies show that obesity is the number one leading factor of osteoarthritis. If you want to prevent getting osteoarthritis and a number of other health problems, you will need to begin to lose weight. Each pound you lose could reduce the risks of developing problems like this, but you should talk to your doctor to find out exactly how much you need to lose to become healthy. Learning to eat better and exercise are the vital steps you will need to take to accomplish this goal.

Losing weight is never an easy feat to accomplish, but it is possible, and it will help you reduce many different health risks posed by obesity. If you would like to find out how you can lose weight, schedule a visit with a doctor today or contact an urgent care center.
