About Me

Allergies: The Unbearable Sniffing, Sneezing and Drainage

My name is Marilyn Baker, and I have horrible allergies. I’m 42 years old and have been suffering from allergies since I was a child. I have seasonal and environmental allergies. Allergies plague me year round. When I was young, my parents even moved to a dryer area in the hope of helping me. Over the past eight years, I have done extensive research both through doctors and online. I have managed to come up with some combinations that have helped me a great deal. My allergies aren’t gone, but they have become manageable. I do have to have allergy shots, but I also use some natural remedies. I am happy to be able to share my findings with you here on my blog. I hope you can find some of this of value.

Smile Makeover: Improving Your Smile with Whitening, Veneers, or Implants

by Clifton Davidson

Whether your teeth are slightly discolored or misshapen or you have a tooth missing, you can improve your smile with some simple whitening, veneers, or dental implants to fill in empty spaces. If your teeth make you self-conscious and you avoid photos because you're tired of being asked to "show those pearly whites," it's time to talk to your dentist about your cosmetic dentistry options.

When Your Teeth Are Discolored

A number of foods and beverages that you consume can cause your teeth to become discolored. If you are a smoker, you likely already know that smoking causes tooth discoloration because of the nicotine and tobacco in cigarettes. Coffee and wine will also stain your teeth. While you can try some at-home remedies to whiten your teeth, your dentist will be able to provide you with better treatment. If you are constantly embarrassed about your nonwhite teeth, it is worth the investment to have them professionally whitened. Your smile will look younger and more vibrant.

If You Have Oddly Shaped or Crooked Teeth

Porcelain veneers are a wonderful option for people who have crooked teeth or teeth that are unable to be whitened. Porcelain veneers are very thin pieces of porcelain that fit over your natural teeth. Your dentist will measure the teeth that you want veneers on, and the veneers will be created specifically for your mouth. When you come to your appointment to install your veneers, the process will only take one visit. Your dentist will apply the veneers using adhesive, and the veneers will permanently cover the teeth underneath.

If You Need Implants

If you have an area in your mouth where a tooth is missing completely, a dental implant can be used to fix it. Implants begin with a small titanium rod that is placed into your gum. This rod will adhere to your jawbone, creating a stable base on which to place a permanent crown. Your dentist will create a crown that will look and act like a permanent tooth, which we be placed upon the titanium rod. Implants can be used to replace one missing tooth or several teeth. Your dentist can also use titanium implants to provide an anchor point for a bridge of false teeth.

If you are living with a less-than-perfect smile and you want to improve your overall look, set up an appointment with a cosmetic dentist like Chen Sharon DMD PC today to learn about your cosmetic dentistry options.
