Allergies: The Unbearable Sniffing, Sneezing and Drainage

My name is Marilyn Baker, and I have horrible allergies. I’m 42 years old and have been suffering from allergies since I was a child. I have seasonal and environmental allergies. Allergies plague me year round. When I was young, my parents even moved to a dryer area in the hope of helping me. Over the past eight years, I have done extensive research both through doctors and online. I have managed to come up with some combinations that have helped me a great deal. My allergies aren’t gone, but they have become manageable. I do have to have allergy shots, but I also use some natural remedies. I am happy to be able to share my findings with you here on my blog. I hope you can find some of this of value.

3 Childhood Maladies That Can Be Treated By Chiropractic Therapy

by Clifton Davidson

You may associate chiropractic treatment with the management of adult aches, pains, or joint problems. However, many individuals seek chiropractic therapy to help with chronic digestive discomfort or Irritable Bowel Syndrome, managing the side effects of cancer treatment, or even treating infertility issues. And some of the benefits of chiropractic treatment can also be safely shared by children. Read on to learn more about several childhood problems that may be successfully managed (or even cured) by a chiropractor.

Bed wetting

If your child periodically or frequently wets the bed long after he or she has been potty trained, a spinal condition called subluxation may be at fault. This misalignment can disrupt signals between the brain and muscles that control the bladder, causing your child to involuntarily relax during sleep and release urine. By making gentle adjustments to the spine so that it is properly aligned and permitting the flow of information back and forth from your child's brain to his or her muscles, the chiropractor may be able to put an end to your child's bedwetting days.

This treatment can also have a positive psychological benefit, particularly for the older child who is embarrassed about his or her bedwetting. By pinpointing a physical cause of this behavior, rather than assuming it is something he or she is doing wrong, your child may feel less guilt or shame.

Asthma

Another common childhood ailment that has demonstrated a positive response to chiropractic treatment is asthma. Many of the same spinal issues that can result in prolonged bedwetting may also make it more difficult for your child to breathe. When the signals between the brain and lungs are disrupted due to misalignments of the spine, the lungs may often react by triggering an asthma attack. Some chiropractors have reported success in treating even severe cases of asthma, and have found that regular chiropractic adjustments may help diminish a child's reliance on bronchodilators or heavy-duty steroids.

Ear infections

If your child gets frequent ear infections and your family physician has suggested the surgical implantation of ear tubes as an option, you may want to try chiropractic treatment first. In many cases, excess fluid can pool in the inner ear when the typical draining mechanisms are disrupted. By manipulating the upper spine and neck, a chiropractor can help restore the natural drainage function and may be able to reduce or even eliminate your child's incidence of ear infections. If your child continues to have ear infections, you may want to seek surgical treatment, but in many cases a few chiropractic sessions may be enough to avoid invasive surgery.
